Suppose you’re executing a python script in the debugger, and you want to find out where the script you’re executing is located. This should do the trick:
import os
os.path.dirname( os.path.realpath( __file__ ) )

Defensive publishing service offered by ip.com:
Patenting is extremely expensive and most companies have more innovative ideas than budgeted patent resources. Who can afford to patent everything? On the other hand, who can afford to let competitors patent technology used in your products and services? Worse yet, how do you know, years in advance, which patentable ideas you will need for your products and services? Defensive publishing is a low cost way to prevent competitors from obtaining patents and protect your freedom to practice.
Although nothing compared to getting a patent, it’s still kinda pricey — $200.00.

Scary, if true:
Former National Security Agency analyst Russell Tice, who helped expose the NSA’s warrantless wiretapping in December 2005, has now come forward with even more startling allegations. Tice told MSNBC’s Keith Olbermann on Wednesday that the programs that spied on Americans were not only much broader than previously acknowledged but specifically targeted journalists.
…
The National Security Agency had access to all Americans’ communications — faxes, phone calls, and their computer communications,” Tice claimed. “It didn’t matter whether you were in Kansas, in the middle of the country, and you never made foreign communications at all. They monitored all communications.

Of course, Obama wants to end the program, right? Change and all, you know.
Nah.
The Obama administration fell in line with the Bush administration Thursday when it urged a federal judge to set aside a ruling in a closely watched spy case weighing whether a U.S. president may bypass Congress and establish a program of eavesdropping on Americans without warrants.

Liberty on the rocks tonight!
Thanks to all of you for sending in your suggestions on our first South Bay Liberty on the Rocks location next Friday, Jan 23 at 7PM.
After taking into consideration factors such as crowdedness on a Friday night, proximity to Caltrain, cost of alcoholic beverages, food, lack of bands/djs, etc. I decided to go with Fibbar MaGees (Liz’s suggestion).
It’s right across the street from the Sunnyvale Caltrain station, so those of you from SF can definitely make it there if you have the will! Also, for those of you interested in carpooling from the East Bay, please post your needs on Facebook and Meetup and I hope that we can coordinate this.
The address is: Fibbar MaGees Irish Pub, 156 S Murphy Ave, Sunnyvale, CA (map)
Help me spread the word to more people, especially to folks in the South Bay! Please email your friends or send them an invite via Facebook/Meetup.
