Live forever or die trying
Just got back from a family vacation up near Hayden Lake. Had a great time–waterskiing, playing with nieces and nephews, biking in the mountains, (too much) good food. Will be leaving for Seasteading ’09/Ephemerisle tomorrow.

This guy was part of a camp near 3:00 and Biology that had a beautiful white clam-shaped shade structure. The shade structure was custom built by a guy who owns a company that makes jet nozzles for boats (as I recall).

Newbies about to give the photographer a dusty group hug.
This was one of my favorite small exhibits. It was very simple: a flaming tether ball that wrapped and unwrapped itself around another pole. Hypnotic and peaceful.
The artist behind the flaming tetherball. He said that he had been coming to Burning Man for 11 years with this exhibit.
This kid was playing in front of his parent’s trailer. I ask his Dad if I can take his picture.
“Sure, if it’s okay with him.”
“May I take your picture?”
“Okay”
“What’s your name?”
“Memphis. My parents used to call me Memphis Pyramid, but now it’s just Memphis.”
“How old are you?”
“Four and a half.”
He peered at me.
“Have you seen any naked ladies?”
“Yes, I’ve seen some naked ladies.”
“Where?”
“Well, they’re all around.”
He looks around.
“I don’t see any naked ladies.”
He pauses.
“Do like taking pictures of naked ladies?”
“Yes, I like taking pictures of naked ladies.”
“I like ‘em too.”

After staying up til 3:00 a.m. packing, it was nice to be able to nap on the way there.
