Just saw a kid get busted for shoplifting at Whole Foods. Clean cut, nice clothes, nice North Face backpack. Looked to be about 22 years old Asian/HAPA. A large black lady (plain clothes detective) and a female Whole Foods employee stopped him as he was on his way out. Asked him to empty his backpack. He did so, revealing several bottles of wine, and a can opener. “What are you doing with this stuff in your backpack?” “Uh, I was gonna pay for it downstairs.” That just seemed to irritate them, so he started saying “I’m so sorry…” They just took him to “costumer service”.

I wonder how often shoplifters get nabbed, as a percentage of the times they lift.
