Packaged in a protective sleeve with instructions describing suggested applications and technical information.

  • Having a "Gray Card" reference is the best assurance that the digital pictures that you capture will have the ability to be properly White Balanced. Only with a proper White Balance can you be ensured of proper and accurate color, regardless of lighting conditions. Unlike your eyes, a digital camera does not automatically see whites as white. It sees the color of the light reflected from it, hence blue-ish in Daylight and Orange-ish in inca

  • The concept of electronic white balance might be new to many still photographers who are still getting comfortable with digital, but it's 30-year old stuff for TV/video shooters, and believe us, there are no shortcuts to getting quality images. You must white balance manually if you want to get consistent results and avoid wasted time processing images by hand on your computer.

Unfortunately, an "accurate" white balance, using an ordinary gray/white reference card, is rarely the best choice. That's why WarmCards were created. WarmCards make it easy for photographers to get a better-looking white balance with their camera, and then to keep the white balance consistent throughout a shoot.

  • The solution is theoretically simple: build a small battery-powered device which couples a hard drive to a multi card reader without the need for wire or cables. Then just add an LCD screen to confirm the existence of our precious files on the device before we format our flash cards for re-use.

The Colorspace solved all of these problems at once. Half the size and cost of its competitors, the Colorspace allowed modular expansion to any size of commercially available 2.5” hard drive. All was good in the kingdom of megabytes.

  • Epson’s inkjet produces the best glossy photos we’ve seen from any printer priced under $1,000. On Epson’s Premium Glossy and Premium Luster papers, images really pop; this printer does a great job on matte and fine-art papers, too. The R1900 uses seven pigment inks—photo black, matte black, cyan, magenta, yellow, red, and orange—to produce long-lasting, borderless photographic prints at sizes up to 13 by 19 inches. (An eighth cartridge contains a special spray called a gloss optimizer, which eliminates the bronzing effect that shows up on pigment-based prints on glossy papers.)

The R1900 is speedy, too, so it’s an ideal printer for someone looking to get into archival, pigment-based photo printing. And at $549, it’s one of the lowest-priced pigment printers available. If you love the look of glossy photos, there’s no better printer on the market right now.

  • This is probably the coolest thing I’ve ever made. It’s quite a step up from the Five Dollar Laser Show I posted a bit back. The only logical step after building that was to drastically increase the power and number of beams. I loved the effect that it generated, but it wasn’t bright enough, and only covered a small portion of the wall.

Rather it is my own personal set of Burning Man related bookmarks – a small set of sites that I find to be extremely useful for preparing for Burning Man. I have also included a handful of my very favorite general photography links, which though not Burning Man specific, will help anybody planning on doing serious photography at the event.
