I'm too beat to be amusing, so you get a list:
My brother Joe is getting married.
I'll be flying in to Jerome (Idaho) on Sept. 24, for the wedding on the 25th.
My mom has also planned a mini-family reunion afterward at a beach house on the Oregon coast.
My sister's Heather and Rachel will be running in the Portland marathon on Sunday, October 3.
I'll have my cell phone, so if any of you might want to hang out and watch the marathon, let me know. (919) 395 0856.

Abby Winters

Read for any length of time, and you will likely become disillusioned with the mainstream sex industry. If her journal is representative, most sex workers are bored and repulsed by their work. Unfortunately, watch any amount of mainstream porn, and it's not hard to believe her feelings are representative. Most porn female “orgasms” seem about as real as a time-share salesman's smile.
Abby Winters is different.
Unlike mainstream porn films, the actors in Abby Winters films seem like real people having real sex. The actors are attractive and fit, yet not “supermodels”. No boob jobs, botox, or fake nails. They may have a little cellulite, a little flab, some crooked teeth. And real pubic hair! Not the topiary that most porn stars sport.
In most porn, there's little foreplay — as soon as the actress enters the room, it's “Oh, you make me so horny!” and the fucking begins. The actors don't kiss, or rub their hands over each other. In Winters films, the actors involved seem to be real couples. Like real lovers, they take their time–kissing passionately and frequently, rubbing against each other, and dry humping through their clothes(8 MB mpg). As they get more into it, they move with the frenzy of passionate sex(60 MB mpg), not like a pair of mechanical bulls.
And like real sex, there are funny moments. In one of the vignettes, the actress forgets to take her calico-colored socks off. In another, she accidentally bonks her head against the wall. The films aren't set in a sterile San Fernando hotel, but in the actor's homes. So sometimes the couch squeaks, or you can hear street noise through the window. One of the scenes begins with the couple changing the sheets.
Oh, and one other thing. They're all Australian. So if you have a thing for old British Imperial accents, you'll like that.
Of course, the actors involved may feel just as alienated as most porn actors. But if they do, their acting skills are remarkable. There are few porn sites on the web worth paying for, but I think Abby Winters is one of them.
(Note if you think any of the links are worksafe, you deserve to get caught. They will also go away in a week or so. Also, most of the content on Abby Winters is girl alone or girl/girl, though she's starting to offer more girl/boy stuff.)

Garden State
12-Sep-04
Although I was physically there, I was not inside the bubble. Three years after I graduated from Stanford, I returned to campus to visit my friend Carly. The Gates Computer Science building was new, but the campus was largely as I remember it. Yet I felt like a ghost. An invisible, impermeable bubble seemed to enclose the students, rushing past me on White Plaza on their way to class. A place that seemed as familiar and safe as home to me four years ago, now seemed alien.
Which is also one of the themes of Garden State, Zach Braff's first feature film. It's the story of Andrew Largeman (Braff), a sometime actor in L.A., who returns home to attend his mother's funeral. He reunites with some old slacker buddies who drag him to various parties. Along the way, he meets up with Sam (Natalie Portman) a quirky girl who lies a lot.
